Week beginning Sept 7
Another successful week has come by here in Freiburg!
Classroom: The new professor for my class is really nice. Her name is Sabine and she comes from the state in Germany called Hessen. Our continuation with grammar this week was mostly with the use of proper past tense subjects and word order. We also focused on using the proper prepositions in German telling where you are going or have been. German has a ton of prepositions and distinguishing them can sometimes be a bit boggling. We have been really grinding down into getting these right; proper prepositions are fundamental. Since the entire class is conducted in German for around 4.5 hours I have been already seen vast improvements on my German speaking abilities.
Friendship from all Over: A fellow classmate in my A2.2 class and I have been become pretty good friends here. His name is Henrik and he comes from Sweden. So after school we usually go hang out in the city and see the scenery and find a place to eat. We found a good Kebab place to eat that is right by the Goethe Institute. So in addition to learning German I take the time to learn a word of Swedish too. (They pronounce their language “Svenska”)
Amber Waves of Grain: Since I am here in Germany I have been yearning to try some German beer. Henrik told me that him and his friend from Sweden, Axel, have found a beer emporium about 20 minutes (by foot) away from the Guesthouse. So while there I picked up a bunch of different brand types of beer. So far they have all been good/tasty. I actually dislike the taste of all american beers so this is a nice change of pace. Henrik and I sat outside trying them out while looking out at the country side. Very peaceful.
