VWC Digital Collab began in Fall 2014 with just a few emails, a few more conversations, and one or two lunches. Supported by a Center for Innovative Teaching and Learning grant, fifteen faculty members from across the College met to explore what we could learn about the Digital Humanities and how we might apply it to our own classroom teaching. Jeffrey McClurken, Professor and Special Assistant to the Provost for Teaching, Technology, and Innovation Office at the University of Mary Washington, led participants in an initial workshop exploring the basic of digital pedagogy. Participants then went off to design sample digital assignments in small working groups built around common interests. Participants were so excited by the work that was done that a new grant was pursued to further our digital efforts at VWC.
